About the Scholarship

The Robert A. Cooke Memorial Scholarship was created by Rob's brother, John, to help D-Y students share Rob’s passion.  The aim is to inspire students to find those international connections that prove to be an enlightening and defining part of life.

One Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School student will be chosen to receive a $500 scholarship towards their international trip expenses.  The recipient will be asked to keep a travel journal and record his/her experiences.  The Cooke family will meet with the student after the trip to view photos and discuss what the student discovered by traveling abroad.  To date, RCMS has awarded $4,000 in scholarships!

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” - Mark Twain
